Turquoise Ring of Russia. The city of Orel.

Noble nest and literary quarter

Perhaps, it is difficult to find a place in Russia where so many famous names and works of Russian literature are concentrated and associated with it.

Russian Russian Russian literature is imbued with the images of every house, the curves of the river (the same one whose shallow waters have watered "so many Russian writers as no other Russian city has ever put them in the service of the motherland"), and the high rocky cliff, where they returned or came as adults, where their friends lived, the prototypes and heroes of their literary works, where every house, the bends of the river (the same one whose shallow waters have watered "so many Russian writers, as no other Russian city has put them in the service of the motherland").

Here, after walking along the "Lavretsky Trail", you can enjoy the quiet atmosphere of the Turgenev era. The museums of I. Turgenev, I. Bunin, writers-Orlovtsev, the house of Timofey Granovsky form the "Literary Quarter".

Oryol spis

Orel spis is considered a mysterious treasure of the Vyatichi culture – the most wayward and unpredictable tribe of Ancient Russia, and the embroidery of this tribe is one of the most ancient and ancient embroidery that has survived to this day.

"Tree of Life", "Pava bird" or "Rozhanitsa Frog" are the main images inherent in embroidery in this technique. Experts correlate the patterns of the Oryol spis with pagan iconography, which appeals to the higher powers about the energy of childbearing and an abundant harvest.

The embroidery includes a counting surface, a double-sided cross, a tambour seam. The largest collection of the Oryol spis is located in the Oryol Museum of Local Lore, which stores about a hundred unique paintings, the oldest of which dates back to 1796.

Saburov Fortress

Not far from the Eagle is the only surviving Turkish funny fortress in Russia – with towers, buttresses, thick walls with loopholes, stone pyramids, a theater, a stable, legends about underground passages and the quirks of the builders and owners of the fortress.

The oldest building in Saburovo is the Church of St. Michael the Archangel, built by Fedot Mikhailovich Kamensky in 1755. The Turkish fortress was built by his son Field Marshal Mikhail Kamensky in memory of his victories in the Turkish wars. He also brought cannons from Shumla, which he had defeated, from which the bells for the church were cast. All the fortress towers are different – one is three stories high with preserved stairs inside the walls, the other was a blacksmith shop, where, according to legend, Emelyan Pugachev was kept chained. The arches and rooms of the fortress theater, one of the first in Russia, have been preserved.

The fortress and its owners were mentioned in the works of Leo Tolstoy, Nikolai Leskov, Alexander Herzen. Sergey Kamensky founded one of the first public theaters in Russia in Oryol.
